About the Data Catch-all Repository
The Data Catch-all Repository is a general-purpose repository for research data for which no more suitable disciplinary, institutional, or community repository is available.
Mission
The Data Catch-all Repository provides a place to deposit research data that should be preserved and made accessible but cannot be deposited in a more suitable specialised repository.
Before depositing data, check whether an established disciplinary, institutional, or community repository is available. A specialised repository may provide:
- better discovery within the relevant research community;
- a metadata model tailored to the discipline;
- specialised curation and preservation services;
- community-specific policies and guidance.
For more information, see the recommendations for choosing a repository.
General Information
The following principles apply to the Data Catch-all Repository:
-
The repository is operated by CESNET as part of the National Repository Platform project.
-
Employees and students of eligible Czech academic and research institutions, their collaborators, and other approved users may deposit research data. Registration and the appropriate repository permissions are required before records can be created.
-
The repository uses the Czech Core Metadata Model as its metadata model.
-
Each record submitted for publication must contain at least one uploaded file. Metadata-only records are not supported.
-
Access can be configured separately for the full record and its uploaded files. A record can have public metadata and public files, public metadata with restricted files, or a restricted full record.
-
An embargo can be applied to restricted files or to the full record. Restricted content automatically becomes publicly accessible after the embargo end date.
-
Public records and public files can be accessed without signing in.
-
A record can use an existing DOI or request a new DOI. A newly requested DOI is registered when the record is published.
-
Standard licences are available in the repository. A custom licence can also be entered when necessary.
-
Metadata of publicly accessible records can be discovered through the repository interface and supported machine-readable interfaces.
-
The repository accepts different types of research data. Submitters remain responsible for selecting appropriate file formats, describing the data, and providing accurate metadata.
-
Communities and community-specific roles and permissions are supported. For more information, see the Guide for Communities.
For instructions on creating and submitting a record, see Creating Records in the Data Catch-all Repository
For information about visibility, embargoes, and publication states, see Record Life Cycle and Visibility.
Registration and Access
Users must register and receive the appropriate permissions before they can create records.
